When I was a kid, I always talked about starting a business. I didn’t know what kind yet — I just knew I wanted to create something of my own. I grew up watching my aunt and uncle run their business, and I was fascinated by the independence and pride they carried with them.

One day, my grandmother — who I was incredibly close with — handed me a rectangular sage green ledger book. I was just a preteen, and I had no idea what it was supposed to be for. To me, it was just a book full of strange little lines and boxes. She probably knew something then that I didn’t.

Life moved on, and I tried everything but bookkeeping. I worked, explored, and built experiences in different directions. Yet that ledger stayed in the back of my mind, almost like a quiet reminder waiting for the right moment.

Nearly 30 years later, I found myself diving headfirst into bookkeeping — and this time, it clicked. The numbers, the organization, the clarity it brings to a business… I realized this is where my skills and passion align. What once felt like a random gift from my grandmother now feels like a seed she planted long ago, finally blooming.
